UPDATE 7 months later. Really love this SMART WIFI garage door opener. The wife made me replace her door opener immediately so I now have two to review. Never a issue in 7 months. The app works great to notify you and open/close the doors remotely. Not once has the door not closed correctly on the first try. Smooth and quiet opener. My old Genie screw drive opener went out after 16 years of use. Any electronic that you can get 15 years of problem free use out of is a solid product. I have only had this new opener installed for a week so far.Lots of options with openers nowadays.1) Battery backup - this model doesn't have it and I didn't feel that it served much purpose for me. I am capable of pulling the handle to release the door if there is a power outage which is short term and rare in Illinois. An extra $100 plus the maintenance involved in the battery made me rule out that option.2) Wifi - To sum it up if you are on the fence. Buy this model which includes the SMART Connect functions. I have a ton of connected devices in my house. I asked myself do I really care about wifi on a garage door opener. I didn't think I would. I have a WYZE cam in my garage to tell me if I accidently left the garage door open which happens often when you are 3 blocks away from the house. Did I need a connected opener also? I have found out the answer is yes. Not only can you open and close the door through the FREE and awesome Aladdin app it will tell you whether the door is currently closed or open. The app is super simple to use - you can get notifications each time the door is opened or closed - or not if you choose. It also has an easy way to add Siri capability to open and close. Now I can pull on my block and just say Hey Siri open the Truck Garage. I don't even need to carry a door opener now. I can open and close the door from anywhere in the world now. I can now create a rule in the app to close the door if I left it open after 1045pm. Pretty cool.3) Install. Took about 1 hour to disassemble my old Genie. The new one took me about 3 hours to install. I do a lot of home projects so I am quite handy. The instructions could be slightly better. I read the paper instructions, I can't comment on the video instructions. Overall install is easy. I wish they would clarify the turnbuckle belt attachment step. Also they never detailed how to lock in the door for the first time and properly run. After the instructions were finished I thought I was ready to run the door. However it only lift the door 3 feet. I messed around for 30 minutes trying different things thinking it was a hardware problem. The issue however lies in the 2nd set of instructions which is the programming portion. I figured the remotes come preprogrammed I don't have to read those instructions since I dont have Homelink buttons inside my F150. What they should clarify on the first set of instructions is the programming instructions includes the LIFT and CLOSE "learning". You have to press certain buttons so the opener learns where to stop to open and close the door. I was used to the old opener that had a small switch on the track that physically was moved to tell the opener where to open and close.Long story short. Read the Programming guide. This should be included on the first set of instructions in my opinion.4) Quietness. While I didn't want anything super quiet this opener is much smoother and quieter. My second garage door with another 16 year old genie now sounds like a train rolling in. I can now barely hear the garage door through the inside house door. The belt drive is certainly recommended over the screw drive.5) Downsides. I should have bought this much sooner. Well worth $209. Withing one day the wife said I now have to buy her side of the garage a new one also. Can I consider that a downside? The second install will likely be super quick. I bet I can have the old one down in 30 minutes and the new one up in under 1 hour. So far no downsides, buy one if you are in the market.

After having been quoted up to $750 to have a new automatic garage door opener installed after our old one died (after 30 years, so no complaints), I decided to risk buying this unit and installing it myself. I am a not-especially-handy 76 year-old guy, but after watching a couple of videos on YouTube first, the installation did not seem especially arduous, and it would save $4-500, so what the heck. And also I inveigled my brother to help me, on the grounds that two old farts can't be too much worse than one. Anyway, bottom line, I am really glad I took this route. The installation was for the most part straightforward, and the unit works beautifully. And it is soooo quiet; that belt drive just purrs! Actually the hardest part for me was running the wiring from the door sensors (which, if interrupted by your dog or grandkid, prevent the door from closing). The previous installation ran wiring along the rail, but you can't do that with this unit, because the belt wraps around the rail (that is, it's external to the rail itself), and also the carriage that pulls the door travels on the rail. So I had to route the wiring along the wall of the garage, then up across the ceiling to the motor supports, then down to the motor. Our garage has a peaked roof, so that was a bit of a high-wire act! The other problem I ran into was that the instructions for programming the door limits were a bit obtuse. But I called the Genie helpline, expecting not a lot, and was pleasantly surprised to find the helpdesk person knew exactly what to do, and walked me through the process while I was on the phone. And that was that.In short, I really could not be more pleased with the product and with Genie's support. Especially in this day and age. Strongly recommended.

Great product. I installed 2 sets on my own. The installation instructions are very easy to follow. They work perfectly and the most important thing is that it is very quiet.

Works great. Alexa feature is nice was easy to set up you do have to create an account on app. I have installed over ones before and this one wasn't bad at all. Doesn't make a lot of noise. If you open or close it with the app it does make a loud alert sound but I think that is just a safety feature to make sure no one is in way.

This was a great purchase for replacing my old unit. It is so quiet!!! Cant believe it compared to my 30 year old Lift master. The step by step tutorial downloaded to my phone was a pleasant surprise!!. Kudos's to whom ever thought up that! No more going back and forth to the instruction's (which were excellent I might add to. I'm a Do It Your Selfer and got it done. It took me triple the time as the instructions said. (2 hours, 2 people. It was 9 hours 1 person for me. But I broke it up in two days. Plus I had to re-engineer the hangers in my garage as it did not quite work with what I had. This units overall length is 1'-0" shorter than my old one. I had to reposition the supports which were included in the box (Thank You Genie!!). Over all so far I'm really happy. EXCEPT!. I'm having trouble connecting to my Router in the garage. I haven't figured it out yet. I might need an extender?.

Okay not everything. It didn’t have a built in camera but reality sank in that I already had a garage camera so why did I need another camera?I moved in to a new house and the Craftsman opener sensors were not working reliably and I only had one opener. My last Opener at my previous residence was the Ryobi GDO. Loved it because it had all kinds of attachments that were truly useful. Didn’t care for the app because sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn’t.I was convinced I was going to buy a Chamberlain and found one with everything though it was a bit pricey but there were some little things I didn’t like after reading other’s review about the sensor design and other things. So I looked at Genie. The sensors are well designed. Solid actually, better than any I have ever had historically. The app works really well. The opener is super quiet. It took several days of greasing the garage door rollers (not related to the opener) so I could notice how quiet it actually was. The install was super simple and straightforward but most garage door openers are pretty easy to install, I’ve personally installed maybe 8-10 openers in my life. But they make it simpler (which I didn’t notice) by color coding the parts bags to the installation steps. Nice touch if you never installed a opener before as some parts can look similar.I installed LED bulbs and the backup battery option it came with was pretty easy to install. I really wanted a backup battery. It was an important requirement for me as it has come in handy several times in the past. The motor is plenty strong and the belt drive super quiet. It connected to my wifi very easily.I don’t use the remotes or the keypad because of Homelink and the phone app.I do like the big glowing (red) wall mount button as it’s difficult to miss or accidentally hit a different button. Simple is always better.Did I mention how solid the sensors are? With 4 kids and a dog, solid is good.

This Genie 7155-TKV opener is a high-end Genie opener suitable for anyone using a folding seven-foot high door. It will handle an eight-foot high door with an optional extension kit. It will handle single or double doors. Two doors require two openers. This model includes the ability to check door status and operate the doors remotely via Wi-Fi. It's compatible with Homelink, the most popular vehicle remote integration, and Car2U, if your car uses that. It's compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant so you can talk to your openers, too.The opener is very quiet, emitting only a gentle whine while operating. The noise you hear is largely determined by the door itself, so you should make sure your door is lubricated to reduce any squeaks. The rollers will still rattle in the tracks, and the hinges will make some noise, too. They say you can reduce the roller noise by trading out your metal rollers for nylon ones, but I've not tried that. Bottom line, if you're coming from an old Craftsman chain drive as I was, the noise reduction is striking.Included are two keychain-style remotes with visor clips, an outdoor wireless keypad, and a wall controller that also controls the lights, and can disable the opener, which you might want to do when traveling.Installation is relatively easy if you're patient and good with basic tools and a drill. The documentation is very good if not perfect, and there are videos, and even a Bild app you can use to view and identify every part while rotating the images in 3D. Much of the work is done on a ladder. The parts are bagged according to the current installation phase, though a few parts are in separate bags.I noticed that the belt was a little tighter when mounted to the ceiling than when it was initially installed, so you don't have to try too hard to get the belt exactly 1/4-inch above the bottom of the rail initially. Two sensors are installed at the bottom corners of the door, and Genie says you must use their units. The sensors are plastic except for their mounting brackets. You may want to add protection to the units and the exposed wire connections. If you install two openers for two doors, please look deep in the instruction manual to see how to install the transmitters and receiver sensors so there is no interference between doors. I missed this, but installing two Genies contrary to instructions has not caused a problem. [EDIT] It turns out that I left the force test 2x4 between the two inboard sensors, just where it shielded the two door's sensor from each other. When I moved the board, one of the inboard sensor's LED blinked, indicating an error. I relocated the sensors as recommended in the manual - both RED LED transmitters inboard, and the two GREEN LED receivers outboard. All's good now. The sensors are for safety, and I believe the opener will not work without them.I had a problem programming one Genie 7155 because of an apparent misalignment between the plastic programming buttons and the tiny circuit board mounted switches that actually do the work. The plastic buttons are relatively hard to press because they are simply molded parts of the plastic enclosure. I finally had to remove the enclosure and press the circuit board buttons directly. DON'T do this with your fingers, as you can't be sure there isn't harmful voltage somewhere on the board. I used a pencil with a rubber eraser. After I explained the problem, Genie was happy to supply a replacement enclosure which worked correctly. I don't have much respect for this button design, but you may not have this problem.Wiring the units involves running a wire pair from each sensor to the motor unit, and another pair from the wall controller to the motor unit. Genie supplies a very delicate wire and little nail-clamps so you can anchor the wire to walls, ceilings drywall, joists, or what have you. Connecting these wires to the motor unit was annoying, as you have to use a screwdriver to depress the tiny contact lever with one hand, insert one or two wires with the other hand, and hang onto the ladder with the other ... well, you get the idea. It's a good idea to twist the wires together before you insert them into the contact, per the instructions. One reviewer said he spent an hour on this single step. It's not quite that hard, but there must be a better way.Setup involves first setting the up and down limits. It's important to know that holding the button down will move the door continuously. You don't have to move it in multiple small steps until you reach the end. Setting the down limit seems to be critical to whether the door will pass the force test, where you put a two by four under the door, and verify that the door will reverse when it impacts the 1.5 inch high two by four. I did have trouble passing this test, as the door would only reverse on objects somewhat taller than 1-1/2 inches. Try setting the down limit again, and repeat the force test. I missed the straightforward analog height and force adjustments on my old openers.Programming was fairly easy. The two supplied remotes are pre-programmed. The outdoor wireless keypad requires a series of steps to program the opener PIN code, and it worked as expected. It uses two AA cells. You can set a temporary PIN for normally unauthorized persons, and it will be deleted once you use the normal PIN. The keypad can also be programmed to open multiple doors, so you don't need two keypads for two doors. Connecting to vehicles with Homelink was easy after the first couple of tries. Essentially, the process is to train the Homelink in your car to the remote, visit the motor unit to put it into the Setup/Program mode, and return to the car within 30 seconds to press the appropriate button Homelink button a couple of times.Connecting to the internet provides a few conveniences. Wi-Fi setup instructions are presented by the Aladdin Connect App. Follow the instructions, and allow the temporary connection to the specified Wi-Fi. It's important to be patient after connecting to your Wi-Fi, when the unit attempts to connect to the Internet, as this can take a few minutes. A strong Wi-Fi signal seems to be important to reliable connection. Only 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi networks are supported. The blue button and the status LEDs for Wi-Fi/Internet setup are under the left bulb shroud as you look toward the garage door. There's a gray button there too. Genie told me it's only used for troubleshooting purposes as instructed by Genie customer service agents. When Wi-Fi is connected and the opener lights off, you'll see a green glow in a dark garage. This means Wi-Fi is connected. The last step is to install the battery backup, which will be easier if you drill small starter holes to assist the two "self tapping" screws which anchor the bottom of the backup unit to the motor enclosure. You'll thank me for this. Genie literature suggests the backup will last up to 50 cycles. The box says it will last "up to 30 cycles after 24 hours loss of power", perhaps because some battery power is drawn by the circuitry while idle. The battery is a sealed lead acid type, I believe, which typically require replacement every 3-4 years. You can use the app to see whether the door is open or closed, and put it up or down. When remotely operated, the opener beeps loudly, while flashing its lights - there's no question that something is about to happen. It takes a few seconds for the signal to traverse the internet. The best feature for me is the ability to apply "Rules" to the door. For example, you can set the door to close if it's open between specific hours. No more leaving the door open accidentally! There's a 30-day log of door operations, which includes the source of the open/close commands. The app is simple and easy to use. I did not try to connect to Amazon or Google Assistant, as I didn't think I would use it. I've read that, for security, you have to tell Alexa a code, so it's just as easy to grab your cell phone and use the app.Bulbs are not provided. Genie heavily promotes using their 60-watt equivalent Genie Garage Bulbs. Some folks using other LED bulbs have reported problems with impaired remote range, caused by unintended radio frequency energy emitted by some LED bulbs. This will depend entirely on the specific LED bulb circuit design. Since I wanted a brighter bulb, I tried using Walmart's top of the line Great Value soft white 100 watt equivalent bulbs - the ones rated at 1600 lumens, 18 year life, and for moist environments. These cost only $3.74 each when purchased in a pack of four, and could easily last the life of the opener. They don't affect the remote range, and with two openers I can really light up my garage. One other advantage of this high-end unit is better warranty coverage, which is lifetime for the belt and motor, 5 years for parts (to include the circuit board, I suppose), and 1 year for accessories like the controllers and remotes.Recommended.

After many years of getting out of the car to open and close the garage manually I’ve decided to install the Genie Stealth garage door opener. Honestly, best money ever spent!I have a double garage wood door that is quite heavy so I decided to go with the stealth and it 1 1/4 hp.My ceilings are quite low and the clearance was literally millimeters for clearance. The install was quite easy and took approximately 2 hours to complete. The instructions on the BILT app was super helpful! Setting the travel limits and programming keypad/remotes was a breeze. Backup battery works well. Also, the Aladdin Connect app is easy to use and works great. I didn’t bother investing in the Genie “quiet light bulbs” and threw in the rough service incandescent bulbs from the dollar store. My only complaint with the unit was the wiring provided….they could have made the black wire a little more easier to identify. Anyhow, I’m just happy that my garage door works great and super quiet!!I’m hoping to have many years of good service with this unit and strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a more powerful lift at a decent price.

This product is pretty awesome prolly took me a good 5 hours to install. Instructions were easy to read. The unit is so much quieter than our old over head door unit. The hardware install was fairly straightforward but it was a bit of a trick keeping the chain untangled and starting at the right end of it. My old opener didn't have the optical sensors so they were extra work. I am a little concerned that they are vulnerable to being kicked or knocked by the snowblower, etc.I was really pleased with the easy way you set the open and close adjustments (no knobs to twist like on my old Stanley) and the reversing force was automatically set too. The wifi setup worked OK but it was a pain getting my phone to link up with the opener. It kept sensing that the opener didn't have internet access so it kept reverting to my home network before I could get the opener configured. The instructions were a little obtuse when it came to setting up the wifi, it wasn't clear what lights were supposed to signify what (now I know that green led inside the right lamp compartment means your wifi is OK, red at the same location means it isn't on wifi). I was also concerned that the big button that goes on the wall had a red light, but apparently that doesn't mean anything bad, its just red.

I was concerned initially about this chain drive being noisy, but it is extremely quiet. The app works well to control it without having to pay a monthly fee like others. It also works well with Alexa, though needed some fiddling to get it to work right. Pairing with HomeConnect car remotes was not so fun or easy, but I think that's more of a HomeConnect issue, as my neighbor has same issue with a different brand.I think it will last a while, though only concerns are one sprocket end (non-motorized side) is plastic and the release for the garage door does not feel like it is strong enough to use after a few manual door raising and lowering sessions.Paired with new rollers and I always have to look to see if the garage is closing or opening! So nice!Make sure to use garage door-specific light bulbs. Regular LED bulbs operate at a frequency that will interfere with the remote signal. Most home improvement stores carry them, and so does Amazon, of course. Having two bulbs in this unit really lights the garage well.Recommended!

Installation took about 8 hours. Most definitely a 2 person job. Instructions were clear and thorough. The garage opener works well and the remote works from down our LONG driveway. My biggest complaint is the quality. The track is terribly flimsy and cheap feeling. The wire to.connect is thin gauge. For as much as I.paid for a better opener I feel it is a rip off.

Buying Guide

Before buying a Wi-Fi garage door opener ensure that the Wi-Fi garage door opener is compatible with your existing garage door system. Check for compatibility with the brand and model of your garage door opener. Verify the range and reliability of the Wi-Fi connectivity. A strong and stable Wi-Fi signal is crucial for the remote operation and monitoring of your garage door. Check if the Wi-Fi garage door opener has a dedicated mobile app that is compatible with your smartphone or tablet. The app should offer easy-to-use controls, real-time notifications, and remote access to your garage door. If you have a smart home system, ensure that the Wi-Fi garage door opener is compatible with the platform you use (e.g., Alexa, Google Assistant, Apple HomeKit). This allows you to control your garage door using voice commands or integrate it into your smart home routines. Look for built-in security features, such as encryption and rolling code technology, to prevent unauthorized access to your garage. Ensure that the Wi-Fi connection is secure and protected from hacking attempts. Consider the ease of installation. Some Wi-Fi garage door openers may require professional installation, while others offer a DIY setup. Choose an option that suits your skill level and comfort with technology. So far no downsides, buy one if you are in the market."

"After having been quoted up to $750 to have a new automatic garage door opener installed after our old one died (after 30 years, so no complaints), I decided to risk buying this unit and installing it myself. Strongly recommended."
