I often make elderberry syrup throughout the year to combat various illnesses. I like to make my own because it's way more cost-effective than buying it pre-made. I've tried a few different brands from Amazon, and this is the cheapest I've tried. I always look for cost and quality, and I believe this brand has both. It comes very nicely packaged in a cylindrical tube although the actual berries are packaged in a resealable bag inside to keep them fresh which I appreciate. One con I will note is that the box was a little squished and the lid has broken. Not a big deal though since the berries are in a bag. It comes with a scoop although I don't use it as I measure with a measuring cup. The flavor of the berries is good. I would definitely purchase this again as it is affordable and is good quality.

Really good berries. We make a syrup with honey, or just make it up as tea. The syrup goes great in manhattans, or old fashioned and I am sure you can use it in many types of drinks.

I grew up with a mom who was both a nurse for most of her life and someone who believed in the power of elderberry syrup. I have noticed a clear difference in winters where I have used it and winters where I did not. However, good elderberry syrup is expensive, and when I saw that I could just make my own, I jumped on the chance to.This is an amazing price for what you get. My first batch of syrup (made exactly to the directions) gave me almost 24 ounces, and that's going to last a while because I just put 3-4 teaspoons per day in my tea. Also, after making that first batch I realized that I can probably make about 2 more batches, so this is a great value. I also like that I can store the used berries in the fridge and then put them in my smoothies, so it's more like double the value. However, one thing I will do in the future is either use 80% of the water they recommend, or let it cook down longer than they suggest. The first batch of syrup was actually a little more watery than I would like, which is why I use 3-4 teaspoons instead of 2-3. A small thing, but it makes a difference. I just happen to like my elderberry syrup to be a little thicker. But I will be buying from this company again.

I bought this to make elderberry syrup. It’s well packaged, includes a scoop, and is easy to use. The canister is pretty in my pantry and recyclable. There was only one wayward stem in one of the two containers I’ve had.I will continue to buy these elderberries and recommend them to my friends.

***Update: The company reached out to me and explained the issue clearly and easy to understand, corrected it, and sent me the organic kind to try as well. Knowing the product was safe I tried both and they are both delicious and exactly what I was hoping for. I will definitely be putting this on repeat order and telling everyone about it. ***I am excited to try my hand at some syrup and gummies. I bought this with high hopes and was disappointed. I will add pictures when I get home but there were 2 stickers added to the bag and each had a different expiration date than what the bag itself said.

I bought this to make my own elderberry syrup- it's a great value as I have made 4 batches so far and will probably be able to make 2 more. I use 3/4c of berries to 3c of water, boil down to 1/2, and add 3/4c of raw honey once cooled.

I liked the quality of the berries. No stems or debris. They made a nice liquid for my elderberry tonic. I've never used dehydrated elderberries before so don't know if the slight odor and slightly brownish color of the liquid I made with them is normal. Never the less, they gave a good amount of juice when hydrated. The only negative was that I wish the shipping were a little faster. I will more than like reorder from this company.

Buying Guide

Organic dried elderberries are a great way to help support your immune system. While lots of people enjoy elderberry gummies and teas, some may not know that they can also be baked into pastries and pies or made into delicious syrup. Of course, before you buy some dried elderberries, you’ll want to consider a few things. First, you’ll want to check the label’s ingredients. Some dried elderberries may contain unnecessary additives like extra sugar. Be sure to read the ingredients list thoroughly to make sure you’re getting the pure and organic form of dried elderberry you desire. Next, consider the packaging of the organic dried elderberries. If you’re ordering elderberries online, you’ll want to be sure they’re packed appropriately so you don’t end up with a box full of loose berries. Some options come with a bag inside a durable container for added shipping protection. Another thing to consider is size and the expiration date. Dried elderberries can usually keep for about a year, so it’s good to keep that in mind when deciding how much to buy at a time. If you only plan on using it every once and a while, it’s probably a smart idea to get a smaller bag that won’t end up expiring before you get a chance to use most of it. Lastly, you’ll need to determine how much you want to spend. Organic dried elderberries are generally about $20 to $40, depending on things like size, brand, and whether they’re actually organic or not.
