Nice quality on these tags as I was stamping them, they held up great

These are very nice tags for metal stamping. I know this is what they're fore, but for non-industrial use they are nice because they take an impression from those of us who are new to stamping, but still allow for two sided impressions without "mashing" through to the other side. Also, the hole is a nice size and the metal doesn't bend out of shape even with a stiff spring ring. BTW, rather than mess with enamel, which is a pain IMO, try using some fun Sharpie colors and then take a light sandpaper or a Green-backed (hardest) 3M sponge to clean away the excess.

I have used these very tags in various sizes for since 2011. Everything from dogs tags, tools, keys, fun, and a family tree. They are very durable and the stampings are still legible after 7 years of use as dog tags. That is to include the wet, dry, dirt, sand, and rocky areas that the dogs get into. As compared to softer brass or aluminum tags which wear to the point that within about a year they are nearly illegible. However, being far more durable also means they are harder to stamp. They take a modest shine when polished, but nothing near the shine attainable with softer brass or other metals. But then, they weren't meant to be jewelry. Industrial is the key word here. Longevity is what you will get.

Buying Guide

Choosing the best brass tags can be overwhelming, but it doesn't have to be. With the right understanding of the different aspects that make a quality tag, you can confidently choose the right one for your needs. First, consider the durability of the brass tags you want to buy. Look for tags made of industrial grade brass. This will ensure your tags are built to last and will not deteriorate over time. Consider the overall thickness of the tags: A thickness of .04” is standard and is slightly thinner than a dime. Next, think about the required diameter for your project. 1.50” is ideal for most applications like labeling keys and valves, but 1” and 1.25” brass tags are available as well. When buying your tags, consider the quantity you need and the price you’re willing to pay. Most of these types of tags come in packs of 25-100. Determine the number you need and compare prices across different retailers to find the best deal. If you only want to label a few sets of keys or make a couple necklaces for gifts, you just need a small number of brass tags. For larger projects like industrial labeling, you’ll need a lot more. Some retailers include additional items with your purchase, such as a tool for stamping the tags or beaded ball chains for hanging. If this is something you need, be sure to check what’s included before you make a purchase.
